The fifth annual Dublin Bus Food Drive for the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People is now entering its second week. The Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People provides meals and day care facilities for people who are homeless or in need, and those who now find themselves on the poverty threshold. Each week the centre distributes 1800 food parcels to the homeless and those in need.

Dublin Bus wants to help the centre this Christmas by asking each employee to add one or more items of non-perishable goods to their shopping. A contribution totalling €2 can ensure that no one attending the centre this Christmas goes hungry. Last year Dublin Bus employees donated over €18,000 in food items and we hope to do even better this year. In order to guarantee that the centre gets a variety of goods, we are asking that each location collects a different item outlined below:

Depot                                             Items sought

Clontarf                                          Cereals (porridge, corn flakes).

Conyngham Road                            Biscuits, crackers or rice.

It has been suggested in Phibsboro Depot that maybe we could get a donation of money together, then we could approach Lidl or Aldi and get a bulk price for these toiletry and baby food items, If you would prefer this option, contact John Graham and see if it is actually do-able.
